In particular, Alan is focused on supporting individuals facing problems and issues including career indecision, adjustment difficulties, work/school problems, relationship issues, family conflict, anxiety, depression, emotional distress and grief. He is also experienced in facilitating groups for personal growth and career planning, support groups for clients experiencing mental illness and their caregivers, as well as drop-in groups for mindfulness practice.
Moreover, Alan received extensive training on the Narrative Therapy approach and his learning journey can date back to the year of 2007. At that time, Alan attended the Narrative Therapy Training Workshop conducted by Michael White, who is widely recognized as a co-founder of this therapeutic approach. Alan also completed the one-year Post-Graduate Certificate Course in Narrative Practice, jointly organized by the Social Work Department of the Hong Kong Baptist University and the Dulwich Centre, Adelaide, Australia. In addition to Narrative Therapy, he adopts different approaches/interventions, including psychoeducation, case management, Solution-focused Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and mindfulness in his work with the clients.
